New Love

The old sage John, so old he was carried into the house church by the younger men in the Church, has a lifetime of experience regarding what it means to live in the light of Jesus' love and life. As he prepares to leave his legacy, he encourages the small band of believers...“I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.” (1 John 2:8)

Throughout the centuries, the call of God to the people of God has always been to love – to love God and to love each other. As the Apostle John writes this command, it is not a ‘new’ command to bring information the believers hadn’t heard. The word used for new, ‘Kaine,’ speaks to being new in quality. The Apostle is urging his fellow followers to let the quality of their love be more prosperous and more profound than it previously had been.

What new, more profound, fresh, qualitative ways can we find to love people? How can you increase the depth, richness, and ‘quality’ of your love with your family, friends, and our folk? How can we increase the 'love quotient' that we have and that we spend?
